For this project, I was blessed with the opportunity to reimagine the sci-fi universe of my all-time favorite metal album, Antares. I kept the concept and composition of the original mostly intact, but gave the scene a megablast of dynamism and power that the original lacked. To justify the original cool blue color scheme I had to visualize Antares as a cold star rather than a hot one. So, my plan for the album art was to display different viewpoints and phases of the cold star’s collapse from an astronaut protagonist’s perspective. The interior panels capture the solar system’s elemental interactions while the front and back covers show the astronaut’s craft as it passes through Antares’ coronal loops.
